Flying Elephants
The other night S and I ended up watching another documentary on Disneyland. We love them. It seems there is always an interesting nugget of information we can carry with us. Though the episode focused on the Jungle Cruise Ride the narrator did mention several times that Disneyland was built in a year. The first time I assumed I had misheard it. The second time it was mentioned I swiveled my head around to stare at S.
Disneyland was built in a year?? I now had only two things on my mind. (No - not Paul Newman and a ride home)
IMPRESSIVE that he found the labor to construct a $17 million project in one year and cannot find another window install crew to save our lives. (Yes Matt says he will be with us full time in August but I will hold my breath until I see his big smile in my warehouse ready to load up for the day.)
ONE year to create the most magical place on earth and here we sit one year and two months into a fire insurance claim on a little townhome in Burnsville and they are not even close to a point where the out-of-pocket work can begin.
The process is there. The project is fully funded and the property is vacant. The property has sat untouched with no forward progress for over a month. There is zero communication to the homeowner. And she signed the waiver that essentially said “do or don’t do whatever you want at whatever quality you want on whatever timeline you want because I promise that no matter what happens I will never sue you and neither will my family. “
According to the homeowner, our former roommate, everything is going great and she has “stopped by” the construction and told the workers about changes she’d like to make and they are taking care of it. She is pleased as punch. She is showing no concern for her dwindling back account. She is talking to other contractors and they are taking care of everything. Well, no she hasn’t signed a contract yet or seen a price yet but it will be fine. Remember when she complained about her phone not working but couldn’t be bothered to call the cable company for months? Right.
