24 Hour Bad Ass
Last night concluded the 3rd day out of 4 I had told T to leave before her school work was done because we had to pick up our new roommate in our driveway at 3:15 to rush and see an apartment. Wednesday we felt CRUSHED because the 2 options in Bloomington ticked the boxes (close to us, smoke on the attached balcony) but they were sad. They were dark and dated and out of her price range. I felt so defeated. Waking up every day with ONE priority, putting all extra energy into researching and calling and emailing and waiting, and updating my grid of info and the reworking budgets to see what would actually work only to end the day with NOTHING accomplished and no options is a mental exhaustion that is actually painful to a high performing person such as myself.
So yesterday I started the day again with the same priority. Inside the office I didn’t even pretend to work. I only called and called and researched and called and planned and brainstormed and made lists.
And then the 24 Hours of Total Bad Ass Happened.
I decided I was sick of not getting a callback on the smoking situation at a place and just booked an appointment to go look at it. There is always a way to get an answer.
T and I previewed it over lunch and it was perfect. Updated, current colors, smoke on the patio, first floor, easy access from the elevator, Burnsville, available, UNDER Budget.
We did the 3:15 pick up and our roommate agreed that the apartment was great.
I completed and submitted the online application for her. (because paper apps aren’t a thing and no one cares about the can’t run a computer generation).
I met and hired a service provider this morning who will pack items and move them to her new apartment.
And they will load all of the “get rid of” items into the dumpster and haul-away. Including the burned out appliances, mattress, box spring and water heater.
And they will pack and load the other stuff that needs to be out of the house but doesn’t need fire and soot mitigation.
In one day.
Specifically, next Wednesday.
Then I arranged to have a storage box delivered.
And then I called the mitigation company to complete the work.
BOOM.
So end of day Wednesday her townhome should be completely empty. That task we’ve been waiting on since mid June (remember the the whole waiting for confirmation that insurance was paying and it wasn’t an out of pocket expense). It’s a big step.
All we need to do now is get confirmation that she is approved for her new apartment. And then once again go through the fire house and determine which of the 4 buckets each item gets put into.
Throw (done)
Pack and move
Pack and store
Fire remediation
So close.
