Favorite Hobby

S’s favorite hobby is to throw stuff away and now I get it.

Our new roommate went to Walmart with her friend yesterday and bought a new watering can, several more cans of Round Up Weed Killer and a movie for T.

  1. Last week she said “I need a new watering can”. I said “You Don’t. This is your watering can from the house. I brought it over here to be used.” “You need it.” “I don’t. I use the hose.” Now we have two.

  2. “Hey… didn’t you guys just bring over several bottles of Round Up from the fire house not even a full week ago?” Correct.

  3. We don’t need to buy DVD’s. We have every subscription service available. And even T.. EVEN T. can recognize spending money for no good reason. So T shows me the gift and expresses irritation and soon thereafter our roommate expresses irritation to me that T isn’t thankful. I just sit there and let it all land on me.

Our new roommate also took the time to express irritation to me that her friend bought WAY TOO MUCH STUFF (hellooooo kettle….) and there wasn’t room in her car for it. If course there wasn’t. Her car is full of bags from the fire house that I told her to leave there. Bags of stuff I told her I did not want in my house. I know, you’re dying to know.. WHAT IS IN THE BAGS???

  • More clothes

  • More socks

  • Her winter coats

  • Her hats and mittens

  • Her good socks (????)

  • Probably some Round Up

  • Her jewelry.

You heard me. Jewelry. She was desperate to get it out of the house in the first few days after the fire. One box came in as far as my entry way and when I could smell it everywhere in my house I banned it. Then she obsessed about the safe coming over. We fell for it. We made a special trip for the safe and it has sat in our basement for 6 weeks. Last week she seemed completely surprised to see it. Today she told me a ridiculously long story about how she wanted S to cut a hole in her master closet to hide the safe in the floor underneath the carpet but he wouldn’t do it. And now we don’t need to. boom. Procrastination pays.
