Claim Update

It has been 10 weeks since the fire.

Two weeks ago I was told “everything has been submitted and we just are waiting on the desk adjuster to give the final approval.

Today I was told “the desk adjuster no longer works there, she may have been fired. the field adjuster who submitted the scope is being replaced. That’s all we know.”

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

So… are we starting from scratch? Does this mean that the hours and hours I spent going through the 50 page scope summited by the field adjuster and comparing it to the 50 page scope submitted by the contractor and identifying the missing $50K and then creating my own spreadsheet with the discrepancies is a waste? Does it mean that meeting last Friday with the contractor to review it was also a waste? Is that skeleton project plan I asked him to start against his will a moot point?

Yes Yes and Yes.

Until we have an approved scope of work from insurance we will not be able to estimate the out of pocket costs from our new roommate to get her back in her 3000 square foot townhome. Because let’s not forget, she will spend 50% or more of her life savings to do a “remodel” and go back to that townhome even though she is, as we speak washing her dishes in my utility sink and living inside 400 square feet.
